The past week saw another week of strong winds and rough seas but there were a few fishable days for the offshore boats. Inshore boats continue to report excellent fishing for speckled trout along with catches of red drum, black drum and an occasional flounder. Surf fishing is producing catches of red drum, whiting, speckled trout and a few flounder. Nearshore fishing is producing catches of false albacore, bluefish and grey trout. The king mackerel bite has been good with plenty of school size kings being caught. Bottom fishing is producing catches of grouper, black sea bass, triggerfish, snapper and grunts. Gulf Stream fishing is producing really nice catches of wahoo, sailfish, some mahi and blackfin tuna when the boats can get offshore. There was a 97-pound wahoo caught last Friday.
Joe Johnston reports the speckled trout fishing has been terrific. One of the preferred baits has been Saltwater Assassin grubs in salt and pepper, white and pink and chicken on a chain colors. Red drum and flounder have been mixed in with the speckled trout. Source: Eastern Outfitters.

Captain Lewis Emery reports speckled trout, red drum and black drum are being caught in the river, in the mouths of the creeks and in the marinas. Surf fishing is producing catches of speckled trout, red drum, a few flounder and nice size whiting. Nearshore fishing is producing catches of grey trout at the artificial reefs. Captain Rick Croson reports Gulf Stream fishing is producing catches of wahoo, blackfin tuna and sailfish when the boats can get offshore. There have even been a few mahi around due to the warm water along the Break. Bottom fishing is producing catches of gag grouper, scamp grouper, beeliners, triggerfish, grunts and black sea bass. Nearshore fishing has slowed with some false albacore and bluefish being caught from the beach out to 10 miles. Anglers are anxiously waiting for the arrival of bluefin tuna. Captain Chris Foster reports another week of excellent speckled trout fishing. The best bait for the specks has been Bettâ€™s Halo shad. There have been some red drum and an occasional flounder caught in the backwaters as well. The king mackerel bite has been good and the kings are being caught on dead cigar minnows.
