Six central Pennsylvania anglers hooked more than striped bass off Cape Cod earlier this week.
They also drew the attention of a great white shark, which wasn’t taking too kindly to having to compete for the fish. The men – Garrett Chestnut, Wade Snyder, Josh Jones and Kyle Zimmerman of Newville and Hery Crespo and Cody Miller of Carlisle – lived to tell about the incident and wound up as homepage celebrities for the Adventure with Magellan Deep Sea Fishing Charters’ website. The business is located in Harwich Port, Massachusetts.
Each of the men is prominently featured in a photo holding the one striped bass they were allowed to keep from their out to sea, aside this can’t-miss headline: GREAT WHITE SHARK ATTACKS STRIPED BASS OFF CAPE COD, MA!!
It’s just mind-boggling what happened to us,” Snyder told The Carlisle Sentinel.
Zimmerman said they’re caught some big sharks before, “but nothing as wide as this was.”
All this happened Monday, on the second day of the what’s become an annual tribute to the beasts of the deep: Shark Week.
Here’s the video from the website that captures the moments from the encounter, BUT BE AWARE: The language, not surprisingly, gets graphic as things unfolded and the adrenaline started rushing. Mute the video before you start it if you’d prefer not to hear the profanity.
