Byron Stout’s Fish Finder: Sept. 21

LAKE OKEECHOBEE: Saturday and Sunday Bass Buster Tournaments produced winning sacks of five bass totaling 33 and 21 pounds, respectively, according to Roland Martin’s Marine Center in Clewiston. Big bass were the reason, with an unlikely 9-pounder, several eights, and “a double handful of sevens” weighed over the weekend. Most of the fish were caught along the Big O’s northern shorelines, from the Harney Pond Canal in Lakeport, all the way to King’s Bar, out of Buckhead Ridge, by anglers pitching and flipping soft plastics to veg edges. The Hayfields out of South Bay also have been productive, but more for numbers of bass than big sizes, according to Bobby Jones.
